Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, disturbed by developments in Turkish-American relations, called on the US press on the eve of US President Donald Trump's visit to Ankara not to provide Turkey with F-35s and jet engines.

Netanyahu made a statement to US-based Fox News regarding regional issues.

NETANYAHU CALLS ON TRUMP NOT TO SELL F-35S

Referring to statements by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan about the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza, Netanyahu called on US President Trump not to give F-35s and jet engines to Turkey ahead of his planned visit to Ankara.

"ISRAEL'S AIR SUPERIORITY MUST BE PROTECTED"

Netanyahu argued that giving these to Turkey would disrupt the balance of power in the Middle East and asserted that "Israel's air superiority" must be protected.

Speaking about Iran, Netanyahu claimed that 80 percent of the country's population hates the Tehran administration, pointing to the funeral ceremony held for the slain former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, alleging that only a few million took to the streets shouting "Death to Trump," adding "They are not friends of America."

Netanyahu, noting that regional countries sent representatives to the funeral ceremony for Khamenei, argued that Israel, which participated in attacks against Iran, is America's friend in the region.

Claiming to agree with Trump on almost all issues, Netanyahu stated that there is no clear timetable for his possible visit to the US, and said they want to advance the Abraham Accords and Lebanon negotiations.
