According to a report in the national press, a statement from the Ministry of Health reported that the deaths of three people due to hantavirus in Anzoategui state were confirmed.
The statement did not share information about the identities or ages of the deceased, but indicated that a comprehensive investigation has been launched to clarify the cause of the deaths.
TWO HEALTHCARE WORKERS' DEATHS ALSO SUSPICIOUS
Meanwhile, the Ministry announced that two healthcare workers in the western state of Barinas died from as-yet-undetermined causes.
The statement emphasized that there is no connection between the deaths in Barinas and the confirmed hantavirus cases in Anzoategui state, and that the two incidents are independent of each other.

It is known that hantavirus is mostly transmitted from rodents. The virus, which is spread by inhaling air mixed with dried rodent feces, urine, and saliva, and sometimes through bites or scratches from rodents, causes symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and muscle pain. The disease, which can also lead to respiratory failure, sometimes manifests as internal bleeding and kidney failure.
