In the weather forecast report of the General Directorate of Meteorology dated February 7, 2025, a yellow code warning was issued for 19 cities. Accordingly, strong storms and snowfall are expected in the Marmara, Aegean Coast, Mediterranean, southern Central Anatolia, and the Central Black Sea regions.

According to the latest assessments made by the Meteorology, intermittent rain mixed with snow and snowfall is expected today in Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Eskişehir, Çankırı, Konya, Muş, Bitlis, Kastamonu, Sinop, Samsun, Nevşehir, Niğde, Kayseri, Mardin, Malatya, and Adıyaman. Meanwhile, a yellow code warning has also been issued for 19 provinces.



HEAVY SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED



According to the data from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), it is predicted that the eastern Marmara, eastern Central Anatolia, the western and central Black Sea, the eastern Black Sea coasts, the southwestern Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, as well as the regions of Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Eskişehir, Çankırı, Konya, Muş, and Bitlis will experience intermittent rain mixed with snow and snowfall. It is expected that the precipitation will be locally heavy in the coastal areas of Kastamonu, Sinop, Samsun, Nevşehir, Niğde, Kayseri, and Mardin, as well as in the southern parts of Malatya and the northern parts of Adıyaman. In the morning and evening hours, frost, fog, and local mist are expected in the inner and eastern regions. There is also an avalanche risk in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and in the high and steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia.



A STORM WARNING HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED



Meanwhile, it is expected that the wind will generally blow lightly from the north and northeast, occasionally at moderate strength, and will be strong and short-lived in the Marmara, Aegean coast, Mediterranean, southern Central Anatolia, and the coasts of the Central Black Sea.



MGM has warned citizens about the negative impacts that may arise from heavy precipitation, strong winds, avalanche risks, and frost events.



The air temperature is expected to be a maximum of 4 and a minimum of -4 degrees in Ankara; a maximum of 7 and a minimum of 1 degrees in Istanbul; and a maximum of 9 and a minimum of 2 degrees in Izmir.
