AK Party Secretary General and Izmir MP Eyyüp Kadir İnan visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, who recently joined the AK Party. AK Party MPs and mayors also accompanied the visit. İnan said, “Now it is time to work hard together for our beautiful Izmir and our valued fellow citizens.”
A visit came from the AK Party’s Izmir organization to Cemil Tugay, the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor who recently joined the party. The visiting delegation was headed by AK Party General Secretary Eyyüp Kadir İnan.
“TIME TO WORK HARD TOGETHER”
In his written statement regarding the visit, İnan said, “We visited our Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Cemil Tugay, together with our members of parliament and mayors. Now it is time to work hard together for our beautiful Izmir and our valued fellow citizens.”
MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT AND MAYORS ACCOMPANIED
The visit was attended by AK Party Izmir MPs Mahmut Atilla Kaya, Ceyda Bölünmez Çankırı, Yaşar Kırkpınar, Mustafa Bilici and Şebnem Bursalı. The delegation also included Menemen Mayor Aydın Pehlivan, Çiğli Mayor Onur Emrah Yıldız, Foça Mayor Saniye Bora Fıçı and Menderes Deputy Mayor Asuman Şen.
PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN HAD PINNED HIS BADGE
Cemil Tugay joined the AK Party on October 7 at the Legislative Year Opening Meeting held at the AK Party Congress Center. President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had pinned Tugay’s badge.
Tugay, who had been a CHP member since 2010, resigned from his party on June 18, 2026, and was continuing in office as an independent. In his speech on the day he joined the AK Party, Tugay said, “We are setting out to get Izmir back on its feet, solve its problems and virtually rebuild our city.” Tugay also said, “We will achieve great things with the harmony and cooperation between local government and the central government.”
