Iran's Parliament Speaker Qalibaf stated that if the U.S. attacks Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf, Tehran will "lift all restrictions." It has been claimed that the U.S. is considering the option of seizing Harg Island, where a large portion of Iran's oil is processed.

In a period where the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran has increased tensions in the region, a stern warning came from Tehran regarding the Persian Gulf. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, stated that a possible attack by the US on Iranian islands in the Gulf would have serious consequences.

"WE WILL LIFT ALL RESTRICTIONS"

In a statement made on Thursday via the social media platform X, Qalibaf expressed that if the US attacks Iranian islands, Tehran would "set aside all restrictions." The statement raised concerns that energy infrastructure and military points in the Persian Gulf could be targeted.

CRITICAL ENERGY POINTS

Some Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf are considered strategically important for the country's energy exports. Particularly, Kharg Island is known as the main terminal where a large portion of Iran's crude oil exports are carried out. According to experts, approximately 90% of Iranian oil is sent to global markets through this island. Other islands in the Gulf also host military bases and defense facilities belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. This situation makes these islands critical targets both economically and militarily.

CLAIM OF US PLAN

According to reports in the US press, the Washington administration evaluated a possible operation scenario targeting Kharg Island, located about 30 kilometers from the Iranian coast. According to the claim, the US administration discussed taking control of the island as a move that could seriously affect Iran's oil exports. This development has led to comments about increased risks regarding energy security and maritime trade in the Gulf.

TENSIONS RISING IN THE REGION

Following the attacks initiated by the US and Israel against Iran, the conflict zone in the Middle East continues to expand. In response, Iran has carried out missile and drone attacks against some Gulf countries where Israeli and US bases are located.

Experts warn that targeting energy terminals or military points in the Persian Gulf could lead to serious fluctuations in global oil markets.

KHARG ISLAND

Kharg Island is a strategic island located in Iran's Persian Gulf and is one of the most critical points for the country's oil exports.

Kharg Island is situated about 25–30 kilometers away from the Iranian coast and is known as the main terminal where a large portion of Iran's crude oil exports are carried out. According to experts, approximately 85–90% of Iran's oil exports via sea are sent to global markets through this island.

The island has large oil storage facilities, loading terminals, and tanker ports. Iran loads its oil onto supertankers here for shipment to Asian and global markets. Therefore, Kharg Island is vital for Iran's economy and energy infrastructure.

It is also known that there are some military facilities belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian army on the island. This situation makes Kharg Island a strategic target not only economically but also militarily.

During the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), Kharg Island was frequently targeted in attacks, and the oil facilities suffered significant damage. Nevertheless, Iran rebuilt the infrastructure on the island, making it the main center for oil exports.

Today, Kharg Island is seen as one of the critical points for energy security in the Persian Gulf and global oil trade.

US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN

While negotiations continue between Tehran and the Washington administration, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28. In response, Iran carried out attacks on targets it identified in some regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, where US bases are located.

In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. According to Iranian officials, the death toll from the US-Israel attacks exceeded 1,348, and the number of injured surpassed 17,000.
