A young girl who received a prison sentence as a result of lawsuits filed against her after using her IBAN for a friend has made headlines. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, warning young people about IBAN fraud, stated, "You cannot give your account number to someone else in exchange for money. When you give it, you should question where that money came from. You need to consider that you might fall victim to a fraud when you provide that account number."
Within the Kartal Law Club, the fourth Kartal ECHR Parliament Simulation event, consisting of 10 different committees simulating the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, started this year with the theme 'Current Problems in Turkey'. The opening program was attended by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Asım Alkan, Kartal Imam Hatip High School Principal Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özkan Öztürk, as well as the school's teachers and students.

In his speech, Minister Tunç addressed the recent issue of IBAN fraud, stating, "Especially, we have young people who are victims of fraud on the internet, such as the current issue of IBAN usage. It should not be used; you cannot give your account number to another person in exchange for money. Why are you giving it? When you give it, you should question where that money came from. If that money is coming to you, you should think that you will be subjected to fraud when you give that account number for no reason. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of law and justice classes in high schools and middle schools," he said.
TRUSTED A FRIEND, ENDED UP IN PRISON
On the other hand, the story of 23-year-old Özlem Develi, who allowed her friend to use her IBAN in Adana, was talked about for days. Develi, who faced 20 lawsuits and received a prison sentence of 4 years and 5 months, surrendered to the police in tears.
