A strong rainfall warning has been issued for Istanbul until Wednesday, along with cool air coming from the Balkans. It has been reported that due to the influence of African-origin dust, the downpours in the megacity may be muddy. On the other hand, the General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a 'yellow' alert for 38 provinces due to the expected thunderstorms and storms tonight and tomorrow.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Affairs Department (AKOM) announced that cool air coming from the Balkans will be effective in the megacity. Meanwhile, warnings were issued that intermittent heavy rain and thunderstorms will occur until Wednesday.
MUDDY RAIN WARNING AKOM warned that the rains will start from the western regions such as Silivri and Çatalca early tomorrow morning and will be locally strong throughout the province until noon. It was reported that the air temperatures will remain below seasonal norms, ranging from 17 to 22 degrees, and that dust originating from Africa will also be effective, indicating that the heavy rains expected tonight and tomorrow may be muddy.
YELLOW CODE WARNING FOR 38 PROVINCES On the other hand, the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) announced that a 'yellow' code warning has been issued for 38 provinces due to the expected thunderstorms and storms tonight and tomorrow.
In a statement made from the ministry's social media account, it was stated, "According to the latest information received from the General Directorate of Meteorology; due to the expected thunderstorms and storms on May 26, 2025, a yellow warning has been issued for our 38 provinces. In the southeastern Marmara, from noon onwards, strong winds and short-term storms are expected from the south in the inner Aegean, the inner parts of the Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the inner parts of the Western Black Sea. The rains expected in the Western Black Sea are anticipated to be intermittent and locally strong in the regions of Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Bolu, Karabük, and Kastamonu from noon onwards. From the evening hours of May 25, Sunday, intermittent and locally strong showers and thunderstorms are expected in Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, and Çanakkale, and from the early hours of May 26, Monday, in Istanbul, Yalova, Balıkesir, Bursa, İzmir, and Manisa, and from noon onwards in the regions of Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Bilecik."
