Journalist Sinan Burhan shared a piece of insider information that could create a buzz regarding the amnesty issue during a live broadcast he participated in. Burhan stated, "On Tuesday, the members of the People's Alliance will prepare a proposal and submit it to the Parliament. This will be presented to the Justice Commission on Wednesday or Thursday. With this regulation, it is expected that 35,000 prisoners will return to their homes, and within a year, 55,000 prisoners."
Journalist Sinan Burhan shared insider information regarding the amnesty issue discussed in the public within the scope of the 10th Judicial Package during his appearance on the live broadcast of TV100.
"I HAD A MEETING WITH THE GOVERNMENT SIDE"
Burhan stated, "Before the holiday, there is a situation where around 35,000 prisoners may return home with a change to be made in this execution regulation. I will also go into technical details regarding this. Today, I had a meeting with the government side, and the information I received from there is as follows; Next Tuesday, the members of the People's Alliance will prepare a proposal and submit it to the Parliament.
"55,000 PRISONERS WILL RETURN HOME WITHIN 1 YEAR"
This will come to the Justice Commission on Wednesday or Thursday. After being discussed in the Justice Commission, it will be brought to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) within a week after the discussion. And after this regulation passes from here, it is expected that 35,000 prisoners will return home, and within 1 year, 55,000 prisoners will return home.
WHO WILL IT COVER?
It will cover all crimes committed before July 31, 2023, with sentences of less than 3 years remaining. Those with sentences of less than 3 years, regardless of the crime, will be released from prison.
WHICH CRIMES WILL IT COVER?
Questions like 'Is there a distinction between crimes, which crimes does this execution regulation apply to?' are coming in. I asked this as well. Let's say a person who has served 5 - 10 years has 3 years left until their release; if they are in a closed prison, they will be transferred to an open prison, and if they are already in an open prison, they will be subject to supervised release. There is no distinction between crimes here. In other words, organized crimes and ordinary crimes will benefit from this right due to the fundamental principles of law."
