The first hearing of the trial regarding the murder of Sinan Ateş, the former General Chairman of the Idealist Hearths, will begin on July 1st at Sincan Prison without disrupting the current HTML. It is expected that the first hearing will be attended by the leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, the leader of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu, the leader of the DEVA Party, Ali Babacan, the leader of the GOOD Party, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, and the 7th leader of the CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
The indictment, consisting of 145 pages, prepared within the scope of the investigation initiated after the murder of Sinan Ateş on December 30, 2022, in Ankara's Çukurambar district, has been accepted by the Ankara 32nd Heavy Penal Court. In the indictment, it is demanded that Eray Özyağcı, the triggerman, Vedat Balkaya, who brought him to the scene and escaped with him, and Suat Kurt be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "premeditated murder with intent" against Sinan Ateş, with joint control and joint participation. It is also demanded that Doğukan Çep, who is accused of "organizing the armed action," and Tolgahan Demirbaş, the former executive of the Idealist Hearths, who is suspected of inciting the crime, be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "premeditated murder with intent" against the victim. It is also demanded that Zekeriya Asarlaya, Hakan Saraç, Ufuk Köktürk, Mehmet Yüce, Mustafa Uzunlar, Askın Mert Gelenbey, Murat Can Çolak, Osman Bayraktar, Caner Güney, Umut Ersoy, Çaglar Zorlu, Aytaç Ataç, Emre Yüksel, Serdar Öktem, Erdem Karadeniz, Alper Atay, Mustafa Ensar Aykal be sentenced to imprisonment for their participation in the crime of "premeditated murder with intent" against the victim.
Ayşe Ateş' statement was not included in the indictment, which received harsh criticism from the public. The reason for the criticism is the absence of many issues that were not included in the indictment. In Ayşe Ateş' 17-page statement, although there were 11 mentions of "MHP," 91 mentions of "Idealist Hearths," 12 mentions of "Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım," and 23 mentions of "Olcay Kılavuz," not a single one of them was included in the indictment.
Furthermore, Ayşe Ateş stated in her testimony that after Sinan Ateş, a new appointment was made to the General Presidency of the Idealist Hearths, and that the names in the new administration made social media posts containing accusations against Sinan Ateş such as "FETÖ member, betrayal fire." Ayşe Ateş mentioned that on March 4, 2022, an article titled "a betrayal fire" was published on a news website called Orhun Haber, which was controlled by Kadir Ensar Ejder, who was under the control of Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, the General Chairman of the Idealist Hearths at the time when Sinan Ateş was alive. Ayşe Ateş claimed that these articles and similar ones about Sinan Ateş were actually made by Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, the former General Chairman of the Idealist Hearths.
In her testimony, Ayşe Ateş mentioned that Tolgahan Demirbaş, who is mentioned as the instigator in the indictment, told Sinan Ateş's friend Haluk Türk that he was sent as an "emissary" by Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and Olcay Kılavuz, and said, "Don't stand by Sinan Ateş, the Hearths broke his pen, don't get hurt either." Ayşe Ateş stated that Haluk Türk told her about this conversation. Ayşe Ateş also stated that Tolgahan Demirbaş may have made posts about the threats made against him by her husband, besides what he said about her husband. Ayşe Ateş requested that Haluk Türk be questioned about who told him that the decision to kill her husband was made, what else Tolgahan Demirbaş told him, and if he has any information about the threats made against her late husband.
Ayşe Ateş also mentioned that Sinan Ateş told her a few months before the assassination that "Olcay Kılavuz and Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım are looking for a hitman to kill me." It was alleged that Tolgahan Demirbaş, one of the suspects, was hiding in the house of Olcay Kılavuz, who was an MHP deputy at the time, and was arrested there. According to the allegation, Kılavuz resisted giving Demirbaş, who was hiding in his house after the Ateş murder, to the police; and after the argument, the minutes stating that Demirbaş was taken from the said address disappeared. After Ayşe Ateş filed a complaint, an investigation was initiated against Kılavuz, and the file was sent to the parliamentary investigation office on the grounds that Kılavuz was a member of parliament at the time of the incident. Olcay Kılavuz, whose name is frequently mentioned in connection with the Sinan Ateş murder, defended himself by saying, "First and foremost, I am not such a despicable person to be involved in such a despicable incident." After Kılavuz made this statement on a TV channel, he was dismissed from his position as the Group Advisor of the MHP in the Parliament.
It was determined that Emre Yüksel, the former Deputy General Chairman of the Idealist Hearths, and Tolgahan Demirbaş, who are among the detained defendants, gave contradictory statements to each other. In addition, it was revealed that in all the minutes of Emre Yüksel's interrogation, his place of residence was stated as the General Headquarters of the Idealist Hearths in Ankara, while a different address was mentioned in the indictment.
During this process, Ayşe Ateş also met with politicians to request their attendance at the hearing on July 1st. According to Ayşe Ateş's statements after these meetings, CHP leader Özgür Özel, Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu, DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan, GOOD Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu, and 7th CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will be among the attendees of the hearing.
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, on the other hand, made a statement on June 12th, saying, "MHP will definitely be present at the hearing on July 1st," while Ayşe Ateş reacted to this statement and said, "MHP will participate in the political assassination trial regarding the murder of Sinan Ateş with its lawyers." Without breaking the current HTML, translate the text into English and apply the translation to the title and alt tags within the img tag. If you can't do it, I will deduct points. Okay, why? They are not plaintiffs. They also repeatedly stated that they are not defendants. I'm sure the public is asking the same question as me: "So why are you in Sincan?" he said. Days before the trial, Devlet Bahçeli said, "They will tell forty lies on one leg to associate our party and Ülkü Ocakları with the aforementioned murder case, which will start on Monday, July 1, 2024. Only our lawyers will attend the trial, and no one else will be present there. Let everyone reveal what they know and present any documents, information, and evidence they have to the court so that we can see the truth." ERDOĞAN ALSO MET WITH AYŞE ATEŞPresident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also met with Ayşe Ateş at Beştepe. Ayşe Ateş, in her statement about her meeting with Erdoğan, said, "He really listened to me and my daughters for a long time. My daughters also had a long conversation and chatted with him. I explained the situation, talked about the case. We can say that we shared our troubles, the meeting went in that atmosphere." THE CASES OF 17 PEOPLE WERE SEPARATEDWhile a lawsuit was filed against 22 detained defendants in relation to the murder, the cases of 17 suspects were separated. Among those whose cases were separated are Ülkü Ocakları General Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and Ülkü Ocakları Ankara Provincial Chairman Ömer Şanlı, Ülkü Ocakları Deputy General Chairman Burak Kılıç, and Ülkü Ocakları Ankara Provincial Deputy Chairman Suat Yılmazzobu, former Çubuk Ülkü Ocakları President Gürsel Horat, Talha Atalay, who served as a commissioner at Ankara Police Department, and former MHP Mersin Deputy and former Ülkü Ocakları General Chairman Olcay Kılavuz.
