Before Fenerbahçe's extraordinary election general assembly, a noteworthy statement came from former president Aziz Yıldırım. Yıldırım stated that he would not attend the general assembly scheduled for September 20-21, 2025, and that he is not supporting any of the current presidential candidates.
Before the extraordinary general assembly to be held this Sunday at the Super League giant Fenerbahçe, a bombshell statement came from former president Aziz Yıldırım.
"I AM NOT ON ANYONE'S SIDE"
In his statement, Yıldırım said, "I do not think it is in the best interest of Fenerbahçe to participate in this congress. Furthermore, I am not on the side of either of the current two presidential candidates. I would like to inform our community that my stance is in this direction and I kindly ask everyone not to speculate my name in favor of the candidates."
Here is Yıldırım's statement made hours before the election;
"I had shared my thoughts regarding our extraordinary general assembly to be held on September 20-21, 2025, with the public in a very transparent manner through the press release I made on September 3.
In line with my belief that "holding a congress in September would not be in the best interest of the club and that it should be abandoned," which I also stated in our High Advisory Board meeting on July 26 and in my written statement on September 3, I do not think it is in the best interest of Fenerbahçe to participate in this congress.
Moreover, I am not on the side of either of the current two presidential candidates. I would like to inform our community that my stance is in this direction and I kindly ask everyone not to speculate my name in favor of the candidates.
The main point I want to emphasize is that among the agenda items announced for the general assembly, I strongly recommend vetoing items 11, 12, and 13, which grant the newly elected board of directors more authority than necessary and elevate the management to the position of the owner of the club. These items completely transfer the rights of our general assembly members over the club's assets to the board of directors, which reduces the effectiveness of club members in the decision-making process to zero.
This issue should be thoroughly addressed in detail at the next ordinary general assembly, and its boundaries and definitions should be clearly delineated. As a result, it is essential that these items are vetoed by our general assembly members in their current form.
I present these matters for the consideration of our general assembly members, and on this occasion, I sincerely wish that the upcoming general assembly will be beneficial and bring success to our community. With my respect and love,
Aziz YILDIRIM
