The General Directorate of Meteorology issued a yellow-coded warning for 19 provinces, particularly the Aegean and Central Anatolia regions. While caution is advised against floods and inundations due to heavy downpours, strong winds will also be effective in many areas. In Istanbul, the temperature will drop noticeably with the northeasterly wind.
The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) has issued a yellow code warning for 19 provinces due to heavy downpours that will affect many parts of the country. It was reported that the rains, which are expected to be particularly effective in the inner parts of the Aegean, the eastern and inner parts of the Western Black Sea, and the western part of Central Anatolia, will be locally heavy.
HEAVY RAINS WILL INCREASE THEIR EFFECT
According to MGM's latest assessments, thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected this afternoon in the inner parts of the Aegean, the eastern and inner parts of the Western Black Sea, the western part of Central Anatolia, the inner parts of the Western Mediterranean, the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, and the northeastern part of Eastern Anatolia.
YELLOW CODE FOR 19 PROVINCES
Among the provinces warned by Meteorology with a yellow code and expected to receive heavy rainfall are Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Bolu, Burdur, Çankırı, Denizli, Eskişehir, Isparta, İzmir, Kastamonu, Konya, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla, Sinop, Uşak, and Karabük.
CAUTION AGAINST FLOODS AND WATER OVERFLOWS
Meteorology warned citizens to be careful and take precautions against floods, water overflows, and disruptions in transportation that may be caused by heavy rains. It was stated that sudden water overflows could occur especially in areas where rainfall intensifies.
STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO BE EFFECTIVE
In addition to the rains, strong winds with speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in the southern and western parts of Marmara, the Aegean coasts, and across Central Anatolia. Authorities emphasized that caution should be taken against possible roof blow-offs and tree falls.
TEMPERATURE DROPS IN ISTANBUL
Due to the increasing effect of the poyraz wind in Istanbul, the perceived air temperature is expected to drop to 19 degrees. The cool weather in the city is forecast to continue throughout the week.
RAINY WEATHER WILL SHIFT TO NEW REGIONS TOMORROW
According to Meteorology's forecasts, while the weather will clear in Izmir tomorrow, heavy downpours will be effective in Istanbul as well as in Antalya and Adana surroundings. It was stated that the weather system will move from west to east.
SCORCHING HEAT IN THE SOUTHEAST
While rainy and cool weather prevails in the western part of the country, temperatures in the Southeastern Anatolia Region will be above seasonal norms. Thermometers are expected to show 36 degrees in Gaziantep, Mardin, and Siirt, while rising to 37 in Diyarbakır, 38 in Batman and Adıyaman, and 39 in Şanlıurfa.
