In the Central district of Kastamonu, 19-year-old Şükrü Emre Arslan, who worked for a subcontractor company carrying out the municipality's sewage work, was buried under soil in an approximately 5-meter-deep pit after a collapse. Following a 4-hour search operation conducted by AFAD, fire brigade, and health teams with the support of construction machinery, the young worker's lifeless body was found, and a judicial investigation into the incident has been launched.
During a sewage infrastructure work in Kastamonu, a collapse occurred, and 19-year-old subcontractor worker Şükrü Emre Arslan was buried under soil in a pit approximately 5 meters deep. He was recovered dead after 4 hours of search and rescue efforts.
HE WAS ONLY 19 YEARS OLD
A tragic workplace accident occurred during infrastructure works in Kavacık neighborhood, Örencik village, central district of Kastamonu. 19-year-old Şükrü Emre Arslan, working for a subcontractor company operating on behalf of Kastamonu Municipality Water and Sewage Department, was buried under soil due to a collapse in the excavated sewage line.
RACE AGAINST TIME FOR 4 HOURS
Upon other workers witnessing the incident and immediately reporting it, teams swarmed the area. After the emergency call, the following units were dispatched to the scene. AFAD search and rescue teams, Kastamonu Municipality Fire Department teams, Health personnel, and Gendarmerie teams raced against time to rescue the young worker buried under the soil alive.
Work machinery also supported the efforts carried out manually by the teams. However, as a result of 4 hours of meticulous and intensive search and rescue operations, the lifeless body of Şükrü Emre Arslan was reached.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Arslan's body, recovered from the 5-meter pit where he was trapped, was taken to the Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital morgue for autopsy and procedures.
Regarding the collapse that caused the young worker's death, gendarmerie teams have launched a comprehensive investigation and inquiry to determine whether there was any negligence.
