Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United States has proposed a trilateral meeting at the level of national security advisors with Russia and Ukraine. Zelensky also stated that Russia has not yet expressed a desire to end the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the United States has offered to hold a tripartite meeting at the level of national security advisors involving Russia and Ukraine to end the war.
According to Ukrainian media, Zelensky answered journalists' questions regarding the Russia-Ukraine War through social media platforms.
"TALKS WITH THE U.S. CONTINUE"
Zelensky stated that work is ongoing on the peace plan proposed by the U.S., and that the Ukrainian delegation is continuing discussions in the U.S.
Zelensky pointed out that the most challenging issues addressed in the talks include Ukraine's territorial integrity, security guarantees, the allocation of financial support needed for the country's reconstruction, and the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
ANNOUNCED THE U.S. PEACE PROPOSAL
Zelensky noted that he received information from Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, about the recent meeting held in the U.S. yesterday, stating, "Umerov called me and said that the U.S. proposed a tripartite meeting involving the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia with the participation of national security advisors."
Zelensky emphasized that he supports holding such tripartite meetings in case important decisions, such as prisoner exchanges, are made, saying, "We held meetings in this format in Turkey, where a result was achieved, and these were mutual exchanges."
"NO SIGN FROM RUSSIA TO END THE WAR"
Zelensky indicated that for the war to end, it might be appropriate for the Ukrainian and Russian armies to remain at the front line for now, and for Russian troops to stay only in the areas they have occupied in Ukraine, stating, "So when it comes to Donbas, the Russians will remain in the temporarily occupied parts of our Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and we can only regain this land through diplomacy. We will continue to live and stay in the part of Donbas controlled by the Ukrainian government."
Zelensky argued that Russia does not yet want to end the war, saying, "To be clear, I have not seen any signs of a desire or preparation from Russia to end the war. But our counterparts in the U.S. say that Russia wants the war to end."
