Ukrainian President Zelenskyy announced that Russia struck energy infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv overnight with 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 UAVs, leaving at least 600,000 people without electricity. Zelenskyy, noting that the targeted facilities were within the ceasefire declared by Trump, called for tough sanctions on Russia from the US and additional Patriots for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia targeted energy infrastructure overnight with 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 drones, reporting that at least 600,000 people were left without electricity as a result of the attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a post on his social media account, announced that the Russian army launched an attack overnight on energy and critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv with 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Noting that there were deaths and injuries in the attacks, Zelenskyy pointed out that the targeted facilities were energy infrastructure covered by the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump.

26 ENERGY FACILITIES DAMAGED

Commenting on the scale of the attack and the damage caused, Zelenskyy said, "The attack was completely deliberate and, by its scale, intended as a show. Russia has never before shown such open disrespect toward the United States. Unfortunately, at least 600,000 people are currently without electricity, and outages could become even more widespread. Serious damage occurred at 26 facilities belonging to our energy system and at 4 facilities and equipment in the oil and gas sector. I am grateful to all Ukrainian energy workers and emergency personnel who are working to eliminate the consequences of this Russian attack."

CALL TO TRUMP FOR SANCTIONS AND PATRIOT

Noting that Russia wasted the opportunity to de-escalate, Zelenskyy called on the US and the international community and said:

"We demand a harsh response from the United States, which does not turn a blind eye to the facts, and from everyone in the world. Russia has squandered the opportunity to de-escalate and chose to continue its senseless war. We ask President Trump to impose on Russia the powerful sanctions authorized by the Lindsey Graham bill recently passed and signed into law. The US President has all the effective means to bring peace closer through pressure, justice, and strength on the aggressor. We request additional Patriot missile interception packages for Ukraine. It is extremely fair to tell the US, Europe, and all our partners that no country should be left alone with an actor as deranged and war-mongering as Russia."
