EXHIBITION AT TAKSIM SQUARE

In the exhibition set up at Taksim Square, the zero waste approach, fight against food waste, circular economy, and sustainable living concept are conveyed to visitors through experience areas.

The 'Zero Waste for a Sustainable Future' exhibition, implemented in coordination with the Zero Waste Foundation, in collaboration with the Istanbul Governorship, and with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, continues to meet with visitors to strengthen environmental awareness and spread the zero waste culture.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş visited the exhibition area and examined the content in the sections. During the visit, the work carried out by the Zero Waste Movement in Istanbul and on a global scale, along with sustainable future goals, were evaluated.

ZERO WASTE MOBILIZATION IN ISTANBUL

Speaking at the exhibition's promotional meeting, Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş stated that over 1,500 events were held in 39 districts of the city as part of Istanbul Zero Waste Week, and these efforts reached millions of Istanbul residents.

Emphasizing that the Zero Waste Forum held in Istanbul was a significant meeting on a global scale, Ağırbaş said that the forum, with participants from 183 countries and over 5,000 attendees, went down in history as one of the world's largest zero waste, environment, and climate change meetings.

Ağırbaş noted that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, the Zero Waste Foundation continues its efforts with the goal of making Istanbul the 'Capital of Zero Waste.'

GLOBAL AWARENESS CALL AGAINST FOOD WASTE

Stating that the exhibition was designed specifically to draw attention to food waste, Ağırbaş said, 'In our exhibition, prepared from a broad perspective ranging from industry to agriculture, from food waste to daily life habits, we explain the harm food waste causes to individuals, the environment, and the world.'

Ağırbaş stated that the exhibition conveys the environmental impacts of food loss, composting processes, efficient use of resources, and sustainable production models to visitors, and added that the Zero Waste Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, is preparing a global campaign aimed at reducing food waste within the scope of the COP31 process.

Ağırbaş expressed that through this work, they aim to contribute to the reduction of food waste worldwide and to establish a new global awareness model led by Emine Erdoğan under the Zero Waste Movement.

“WE SEE THAT A ZERO WASTE CULTURE IS BEGINNING TO FORM”

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated that the activities carried out as part of Zero Waste Week were implemented this year with broader stakeholder participation and events that directly reach citizens.

Gül noted that over 1,500 events focused on zero waste were held for the first time in Istanbul, and millions of Istanbul residents participated in these activities.

Drawing attention to the international nature of the Zero Waste Forum, Gül stated that Istanbul has become an important center in the global zero waste agenda.

Emphasizing that the exhibition at Taksim Square is important for conveying the zero waste concept through experience, Gül said, 'This culture needs to be formed not just by telling, but by living and seeing. It is of great importance for children, young people, and all segments of society to experience this process.'
