A fire in the elevator section of a wedding hall in the Körfez district of Kocaeli caused panic. During the wedding, two women and two children who were trapped in the elevator were affected by smoke and were taken to the hospital. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
A fire in the elevator section of a wedding hall in the Körfez district of Kocaeli caused panic. Two women and two children who were trapped in the elevator were affected by smoke and taken to the hospital.
While a wedding was taking place in the wedding hall on the upper floor of the Necmettin Erbakan Cultural Center located in the Yeniyalı neighborhood of Körfez, there were two power outages in the hall. Following that, thick smoke began to rise from the elevator section.
PANIC DURING THE WEDDING
As the hall quickly became engulfed in darkness, it was filled with smoke. Guests experienced great panic as those inside the hall tried to escape.

During this time, the screams of two women and two children trapped in the elevator were heard. Health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene quickly. While the fire brigade intervened and brought the elevator down, the four people affected by smoke were taken to Körfez State Hospital after the first intervention by health teams. It was learned that those affected by smoke were not in life-threatening condition.
While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, police teams have launched an investigation into the incident. The officials of the wedding hall ended the event and evacuated the hall. After the fire, the fire brigade carried out cooling operations.
