Due to the General Directorate of Security's post on August 30th that omitted Atatürk, the Head of Media Public Relations and Protocol Department, Güngör Selçuk, was dismissed from his position. Selçuk has been reassigned as a civil servant within the Strategy Department.
In a social media post made by the General Directorate of Security as part of the celebrations for August 30 Victory Day, a new development has occurred in the crisis that began with the removal of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from a photo related to the Great Offensive.
MEDIA DEPARTMENT HEAD DISMISSED
According to information reported by T24, Güngör Selçuk, the head of Media Public Relations and Protocol (MHP) Department responsible for preparing the post, was dismissed due to increasing reactions. It has been learned that Selçuk has been assigned as a civil servant in the Strategy Department. The vacant position has been temporarily filled by Kürşat Özhan, the Chief of Staff of the General Director of Security, Mahmut Demirtaş.
REACTIONS CAME IN SUCCESSION
The beginning of the crisis is based on the celebration message for the Great Offensive published on August 26 on the institutional social media account of the Security. When it was noticed that Atatürk's image was removed from the original photo used in the post, strong reactions arose in the public.
SELÇUK BECAME THE SECOND NAME
After the incident, the police officer who prepared the post was reassigned. Following the instructions of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Güngör Selçuk, the head of the MHP Department, also became the second name to be dismissed as of yesterday.
