THREW HER BABY IN THE TRASH AFTER KILLING IT Following the incident, the teams of the Public Security Branch, which conducted technical and physical surveillance, identified the suspect as Elif A., a mother of three children. It was learned that Elif A., who was taken into custody and brought to the police station, gave birth to the baby by herself and killed it using scissors. The mother, Elif A., was determined to have placed the baby's corpse in a box and thrown it into the trash container, and it was later learned that she went grocery shopping afterward.
ARRESTED After completing her procedures at the police station, Elif A. was brought to the courthouse, where she was arrested by the Magistrate's Court for the crime of 'Intentional killing with monstrous feelings against a descendant and a person unable to defend themselves.'
MOMENTS SHE WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE Meanwhile, security camera footage emerged showing the moments when Elif A. went to the grocery store after killing her baby and throwing it in the container. In the footage, the woman is seen walking into the grocery store and heading towards the aisle. In the next frame, she is seen shopping at the checkout.
HER STATEMENT WAS REVEALED In her statement, the suspect said, "I officially got married and divorced. I have three children from him. Our other child, G. N., is with his father. They live at another address in Ortaköy. While I was in the process of divorce with my husband, I had a child named C. Y. with my imam-married husband H. Y. He is currently 1 year old and lives with his father. I was married to H. Y. for 2 years, and we started being together around the time I was going to separate from my first husband. My marriage with him was problematic. He constantly abused me as he drank alcohol. I was beaten many times even while I was pregnant. I separated from him in January of this year due to the violence I experienced from him and returned to my parents' house. The last time I was with H. Y. was about a week before we separated. When I found out I was pregnant about a month later, I called him and told him. At first, he said, 'Okay,' but later he called my sister and said, 'We broke up, I am not with your sister.' My intention was to give the child to him after giving birth, just like I did with the first child. After I told him I was pregnant, I thought, 'If we reconcile, we will get back together.' But he did not contact me," it was learned.
CONFESSED TO KILLING HER BABY Elif A., recounting the day of the incident, said, "I was late to terminate the pregnancy while waiting. Only my sister knew I was pregnant. She wanted me to have an abortion, but the time had passed. My mother, father, or anyone else did not notice my pregnancy. I was supposed to give birth in September. On August 30, 2025, around 14:00, while I was at home, I started to have intense contractions in my lower abdomen. My daughter was sleeping at home. No one else was there. When I entered the boiler room next to our ground-floor apartment to get some clothes, my contractions intensified. Immediately after the increasing contractions in the boiler room, I gave birth, and the child fell into my sweatpants. Right there in the boiler room, I cut the baby's umbilical cord with scissors and left the baby exposed in the boiler room. I don't remember anything about what I did to the baby. I have severe forgetfulness because I had brain surgery. After cutting the baby's umbilical cord, I don't remember if I harmed the baby with the scissors. I remember the baby cried for a very short time after being born. Then I went back to our apartment. I prepared breakfast for my daughter. When I came back to the boiler room around 21:30, the baby was lying lifeless, just as I left it. I had cut the umbilical cord. I saw a cut mark on the abdomen made with scissors. I probably did it, but I don't remember anything. I put it in a bag and placed it outside, next to the trash can," it was learned.
"I LEFT IT IN THE BOILER ROOM WITHOUT COVERING IT" Elif A., who said she gave birth alone, stated, "There was no one with me when I gave birth. After giving birth, the baby cried. I cut the cord. After that, without doing anything, without breastfeeding, without covering it, I left it in the boiler room. I don't remember if I caused the injuries on the baby. I don't remember any of the process after giving birth. After I left the baby there, I went to my house next to the boiler room. I never heard the baby cry at home. No one else entered the boiler room that day besides me. In fact, when I left the boiler room, the baby was not crying. I washed the bloodstains in the boiler room around 17:30. While I was cleaning the boiler room, I put the baby in a bag. I probably harmed the baby after giving birth, although I don't remember. There was no sound from the baby afterward. Later, I took the baby with a bucket to the side of the trash container. In this bucket, there are my underwear from when I gave birth. I don't remember if I burned the baby. However, afterward, I saw the garbage collection workers trying to extinguish the trash can I left."
I do not remember anything after cutting the umbilical cord. It has been learned that he said, "I carried out these events all by myself."
