THEY OPENED FIRE ON THE NEWSPAPER
At around 01:30, an armed attack was carried out on the Evrensel Newspaper's İzmir Representative Office located on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street. A total of 7 shots were fired in succession at the external sign of the newspaper's office. The attackers, identified as two individuals, fled the scene. The attack was recorded by the security cameras of a nearby business.

Based on the footage, the police identified the suspects as İsa C. and İbrahim Halil B. The police apprehended and detained İbrahim Halil B. It was determined that efforts were ongoing to capture İsa C., who was identified as the one who used the weapon during the incident.
The police also conducted an investigation at the newspaper's office. Özer Akdemir, the İzmir Representative of the newspaper, who was consulted by the police, filed a complaint against the attackers. It was learned that no one was present in the newspaper office at the time of the incident.

Özer Akdemir, the İzmir Representative of the newspaper, stated, "From what we saw on the cameras, one person found the address of the newspaper with a navigation device. The name and emblem of the newspaper are at the door. He emptied a magazine there, aiming at it. He fled the street he came from. According to the information I received from the police, one suspect is in custody, and one person is being sought. The person being sought is the shooter. We cannot understand the reason for the incident either. It may be related to the news. It will become clear after the investigation," he said.
