It was reported that 984 households were evacuated in 6 neighborhoods, 1,851 people were evacuated, and 53 houses were damaged, and the fire was brought under control on its third day.
15,000 ACRES OF LAND DAMAGED
An investigation has been launched by the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the fire that damaged approximately 15,000 acres of forest. In the investigation conducted by the gendarmerie teams, it was determined that the fire broke out due to the negligence of the employees of the contractor company that was extracting water pipes in Balandız Neighborhood.
4 PEOPLE WHO CAUSED THE FIRE ARRESTED
As a result, the owner of the contractor company, S.K., and 5 workers were detained. The 6 individuals who were detained were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the gendarmerie. Among the suspects brought to court, 4 people, including the company owner, were arrested, while 2 were released under judicial control. It was reported that the investigation regarding the fire is ongoing.
