"INDICTMENTS OF MAYORS SHOULD BE PREPARED"
Speaking to Tuğba Kalçık from Sabah newspaper, Bahçeli, while responding to a question about the detained former Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated that the indictments should be prepared as soon as possible.
Bahçeli said, "If they are innocent, their acquittal should be ensured, and those who are guilty should receive the necessary punishment. Indictments should be prepared within October, shared with the public, and courts should commence. A judicial environment should be established where results can be obtained in a short time. We have very valuable members of the judiciary who can do this, and we must trust them."
"IF ERDOĞAN RUNS AGAIN, WE WILL SUPPORT HIM"
Responding to a question about the possible candidacy of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Bahçeli emphasized that they would provide full support.
"There is a respect and care that the MHP shows towards the position held by our President, rather than just friendship with him. When this respect is mutual, it brings you to a point of thinking and sharing together. Turkey has gone through very critical phases after July 15. The valuable efforts of our President have been beneficial for our country. There may be difficulties in social and economic issues, but they are not insurmountable problems. Regardless of the conditions, I am in favor of our President continuing his duty. If he runs again in 2028, we will provide our full support as the MHP," he stated.
"AHMET TÜRK SHOULD BE REINSTATED, AHMET ÖZER SHOULD BE RELEASED"
Responding to a question about the "Terror-free Turkey" efforts, Bahçeli made striking statements regarding Ahmet Türk and Ahmet Özer.
Bahçeli said, "Ahmet Türk was the Mayor of Mardin, but he was removed from office. He is someone who contributes to dialogues for peace and tranquility in Turkey. In such a situation, Ahmet Türk should be reinstated to his position and should meet with his municipality. Similarly, Ahmet Özer should also be released. If there is corruption or an illegal situation, of course, the necessary punishment should be given. However, past statements should be evaluated separately in the peace process. We must separate these two issues from each other," he said.
