WHO IS NIYAZI NEFİ KARA?
Niyazi Nefi Kara was born on August 20, 1969, in Manavgat. He is a specialist in brain and nerve surgery. He entered the parliament as the 1st candidate of CHP Antalya in the elections on June 7, 2015, and November 1, 2015. He was elected as the Mayor of Manavgat in the 2024 Turkey local elections.
He was born in 1969 in the village of Hatipler, affiliated with Manavgat, as a child of a Yörük family. He completed his primary and secondary education in Manavgat. He started his high school education at Manavgat High School but later transferred to Antalya High School and graduated from there. He graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his medical specialization training in the Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine.
Before the June 2015 general elections in Turkey, he ranked first in the primary elections held in Antalya province according to the CHP party statute, surpassing former CHP Chairman Deniz Baykal, and was elected as a member of parliament according to the general election results. He was also elected as a member of parliament in the November 2015 general elections.
In the 2024 Turkey local elections, he became the CHP candidate for Mayor of Manavgat. In the elections held, he was elected as the Mayor of Manavgat by surpassing his closest rival Süleyman Okudan by 5,629 votes.
Niyazi Nefi Kara is married to Dr. Hacer Ceyhan Kara, a specialist in anesthesia and reanimation, and they have two children named İpek and Ali Çağın.
