A criminal organization that victimized individuals by posting fake escort ads on websites and then posing as lawyers to intimidate them into paying money again was dismantled in a simultaneous operation conducted in six provinces. It was revealed that in this fraud case, 22 suspects were referred to the courthouse, and a total of 11 million 120 thousand TL was defrauded.
The teams of the Denizli Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch took action upon the reports of citizens who were defrauded through fake escort advertisements on a website.
3 MONTHS OF WORK WAS DONE
As a result of the teams' 3-month work, 35 victims were reached, and the identities and addresses of 22 members of the fraud organization, 5 of whom are women, were identified. In a simultaneous operation conducted in Denizli, Istanbul, Antalya, Tekirdağ, Aydın, and Osmaniye, 22 suspects were captured and brought to Denizli. After completing their statements at the police station, the suspects were sent to the courthouse under tight security measures. It was learned that the suspects' proceedings at the courthouse were ongoing.
THEY CALLED VICTIMS LIKE LAWYERS AND SCARED THEM TO TAKE MONEY AGAIN
In a detailed examination, the teams uncovered the organization's method of fraud. The suspects, who took money from victims who called them through the fake escort websites they established and then cut off the connection, later reconnected with the victims under the guise of lawyers, scaring them by saying, "We will sue you for not coming to the meeting point. If you don't want the matter to go to the judicial authorities, send money." It was revealed that victims, fearing the incident would be exposed, sent the money they requested to the organization members who introduced themselves as lawyers. It was stated that the organization made a profit of 11 million 120 thousand TL using this method.
