The number of people who have died due to floods caused by heavy rainfall in Mexico has risen to 47, while the number of missing persons has increased to 38.
In a statement made by the National Coordinator of Civil Protection (CNPC), it was reported that the death toll has increased due to heavy rains affecting the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Queretaro, and San Luis Potosi. The statement indicated that the number of people who lost their lives in the flood disaster has risen to 47, and the number of missing persons has reached 38, while search and rescue operations in the states continue uninterrupted.
THE PRESIDENT VISITED THE REGION
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum conducted inspections in Veracruz, Puebla, and Hidalgo, which were hit by the flood. She expressed her condolences to the families of the deceased and announced that the government stands by the people with all its resources and that no one will be left alone.
200 THOUSAND PEOPLE AFFECTED
According to the Mexican press, more than 200,000 people have been affected by one of the largest flood disasters in recent years, and approximately 50,000 homes have been damaged. While some towns experienced power outages, it was reported that major highways were closed due to the flood. Images shared on social media showed houses submerged in water and some people climbing onto their roofs to wait for help.
