Details of the Forensic Medicine Institution report prepared as part of the investigation into the death of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found 18 days after going missing in Van, have emerged.

The Forensic Medicine Institution report stated that Rojin Kabaiş's lifeless body was reported to the Van Forensic Medicine Group Presidency on the day it was found, and that radiological imaging, post-mortem examination, and autopsy procedures were carried out by a team consisting of 4 forensic medicine specialists, 1 radiology specialist, and 4 autopsy technicians. The report noted that no bone fractures or metallic object images were detected, except for decomposition thought to be related to decay at the tip of the fifth finger of the left hand. It was recorded that there were color changes compatible with bleeding on the back of both knees, both arms, and the front of the chest.

"NO FINDINGS THAT COULD BE RELATED TO SEMEN OR SPERM HAVE BEEN DETECTED"

The report indicated that in the biological examination and identification dated November 1, 2024, May 15, 2025, and October 10, 2025, a total of 80 swab samples taken from Kabaiş's body, along with decomposition fluid, muscle, and bone tissue samples were analyzed, and it was stated: "In the analysis of these samples, no findings that could be related to semen or sperm were detected in the swab samples taken from her body. In the intravaginal area and sternal area, two different male DNA profiles were obtained, one from each area, along with Rojin Kabaiş. In this context, the workflow steps regarding contamination risk have been scanned from the transfer of the deceased from the crime scene to the autopsy site, and it was determined that there was no contamination during the autopsy and laboratory examinations. The possibility of contamination during the transfer of the deceased from the crime scene to the autopsy site could not be eliminated due to the lack of biological samples and records belonging to other individuals present at the scene. After all contamination possibilities were eliminated, if biological samples belonging to the suspect or suspects are sent by the relevant Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, comparisons can be made based on the obtained different DNA profiles that may belong to the suspect or suspects."

The report stated that in the toxicological examination of cerebrospinal fluid, decomposition fluid, bladder wall, muscle, stomach contents, and internal organ samples, very small amounts of drug active ingredients (ornidazole and rocuronium) and 39 mg/dL of ethanol, thought to be related to decomposition, were detected.

NO MEDICAL EVIDENCE FOUND FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT, DEATH BY TRAUMATIC IMPACT, OR POISONING

The report indicated that due to advanced decomposition and saponification, a definitive assessment regarding trauma in soft tissues could not be made in the analysis of internal organ and soft tissue samples, and it was noted that no significant findings in favor of trauma were detected in the neck bone samples.

The report included evaluations from the First Specialization Board dated November 6, 2024, November 21, 2024, and March 19, 2025, stating, "It is accepted that her death occurred on September 27, 2024, the date she went missing, and that she may have been in the water during this process. There is no medical evidence that she died from traumatic impact, was poisoned, or was subjected to sexual assault by the insertion of a penis or object into her vagina or anus. It is necessary to accept that her death occurred as a result of drowning, and it could not be medically assessed whether the drowning incident was a suicide, an accident, or carried out under the influence of another person. The slight decomposition at the tip of the left hand's fifth finger is of a nature that could occur during the dragging in water after death."

DETECTION OF 2 DIFFERENT MALE DNA PROFILES IN THE CHEST AND VAGINAL INNER AREA

In the conclusion section of the report, it was stated that as a result of the radiological examination, post-mortem examination, and autopsy performed on Kabaiş, "In the intravaginal area and sternal area (chest area), two different male DNA profiles were obtained, one from each area, along with Rojin Kabaiş."

The report noted that only one intravaginal and one sternal area swab yielded different DNA from a total of 12 ecuvions taken from the vaginal area and 67 ecuvions taken from other parts of the body, and it was recorded that the possibility of contamination could not be eliminated.

The report emphasized that "When the date of Kabaiş's death and the place where she was found are evaluated together with the process after she was found, if contamination is the case, it could be due to any contact in the water she was dragged in, contact at the place where she was found, contact during the crime scene investigation, or contact during her transfer to the Van Forensic Medicine Group Presidency."

The report noted that it was necessary to accept that her death occurred as a result of drowning, and it was recorded that it could not be medically assessed whether the drowning incident was a suicide, an accident, or carried out under the influence of another person.
