The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into individuals sharing images with firearms on social media.
As part of the investigation, the Ankara Police Department's Public Order Branch teams identified individuals who fired weapons on social media and challenged each other by sharing these images.
SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS WERE CARRIED OUT
Following the investigations, simultaneous raids were conducted at the identified addresses in the morning hours with the support of special operations police. In the operation, 23 suspects with records for various crimes were detained, and 8 unlicensed handguns were seized.
THE OPERATION CAME AFTER THE MURDER OF SERDAR ÖKTEM
It is noteworthy that the operation in Ankara took place after lawyer Serdar Öktem was assassinated in the heart of Istanbul.
Yesterday, lawyer Serdar Öktem was attacked in Şişli, Istanbul. The assassination occurred during the busiest time of traffic, and 6 suspects were detained following the attack. Öktem, who is claimed to be a key figure in the Sinan Ateş murder case, was murdered after it was revealed that the Istanbul Police Department had written to the Bakırköy and Şişli district police departments on August 25, stating that a suspect had said that the Dalton Crime Organization would carry out an attack against Öktem and that measures should be taken for Öktem's safety.
While the suspects were taken to the police for processing, it was claimed that the Dalton Crime Organization had claimed responsibility for the assassination. It was reported that some social media posts allegedly made by individuals claimed to be members of the crime organization stated that revenge had been taken for Caner Kocer, who was killed in Spain last August.
