Following the armed assassination of lawyer Serdar Öktem, who was briefly detained in the Sinan Ateş murder case, the Istanbul police conducted an operation. Five individuals related to the assassination were apprehended during the operation.

ASSASSINATION OF LAWYER SERDAR ÖKTEM Lawyer Serdar Öktem, who is on trial for the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları General President Sinan Ateş, was attacked while waiting in traffic on Büyükdere Street towards the 15 July Martyrs Bridge in Istanbul in his car with the license plate 34 MPG 499.
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Öktem, who was seriously injured in the attack, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Despite the interventions made here, Öktem lost his life.
5 PEOPLE CAPTURED IN OPERATION During the investigation conducted by police at the scene, a large number of empty cartridges belonging to handguns and long-barreled weapons were found. The crime scene investigation teams continue their examinations in the area. In an operation organized by the Istanbul Police Department, 5 suspects related to the armed attack were captured. The suspects were taken to the police station for processing.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR In a statement regarding the matter from the Ministry of Interior, the following was stated: "Today, lawyer Serdar Öktem was attacked while waiting in traffic on Şişli Büyükdere Street towards the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, and he has passed away in the hospital where he was taken. HE WAS ON TRIAL FOR THE MURDER OF SINAN ATEŞ Serdar Öktem, who was a defendant in a case involving the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation President and Hacettepe University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş, was being tried in the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court, where his case was separated from the 22-defendant case.
