Famous singer Ferhat Göçer, along with rapper Sagopa Kajmer, who participated in the GENÇFEST organized by the AK Party's Youth Branch, faced heavy criticism from some circles.
Targeted on social media, Sagopa Kajmer made striking statements to Hakan Uç from Sabah newspaper. The famous rapper stated that he is a musician and does not have a political identity, saying, "As always, I will continue to do what I know best, which is my music, without marginalizing anyone."
"IT'S WONDERFUL TO MEET YOUNG PEOPLE WHO GREW UP WITH OUR SONGS"
Sagopa Kajmer's statement is as follows: "The AK Party Youth Branch announced that they would hold a festival. I was called from the Presidential office for this festival. I was invited at the special request of the President to take the stage. Just as I have listeners from all segments of society, there are also people from the AK Party who listen to me and have now reached good positions. It is wonderful to meet young people who grew up with our songs. The Presidential office is the highest representative office of this country. My participation in this invitation is a sign of my respect for that office and the nation it represents.
"PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN LISTENED TO 3 OF MY SONGS"
The President also attended the festival right after returning from Albania. Actually, I thought he wouldn't stay long, even that he would be tired. However, he participated. In fact, he listened to three of my songs. A chair was offered to him, without protocol. Before that, he wanted to greet the audience with the participating artists. We went on stage and greeted the participants together. As he was leaving, we had a brief dialogue: 'Goodbye. Thank you for listening, you made me happy.' After that, I stayed on stage for a little while longer and finished my set.
"I AM NOT SOMEONE WITH COMMERCIAL CONCERNS"
The famous rapper continued his words as follows: "I am a musician. I do not have a political identity. I was there to do my job upon the invitation of the Presidency, which is the highest office representing our nation. I have performed my music at concerts representing many different segments before. At that time, I was criticized by being asked, 'Do you have commercial concerns?' I am not someone with commercial concerns. You can understand this most clearly from my rejection of advertising offers that come with astronomical figures or from my release of hundreds of albums and songs on digital platforms for free. As always, I will continue to do what I know best, which is my music, without marginalizing anyone."
