Regarding the wedding convoy that did not give way to an ambulance in Ankara, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared that "Necessary actions have been taken." He announced that a total of nearly 50,000 TL in fines was imposed on three drivers and that their vehicles were banned from traffic. Yerlikaya also provided information about the bill presented to the Parliament, stating that in such cases, drivers will now face fines of 180,000 TL.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made a statement regarding drivers who did not give way to an ambulance during a wedding convoy recorded in Ankara, saying, "The necessary actions have been taken." The Minister also shared details included in the new draft law. According to Minister Yerlikaya's statement, the new draft law submitted to the Parliament will impose a fine of 180,000 TL on drivers in such situations, their driving licenses will be confiscated for 120 days, and their vehicles will be banned from traffic for 120 days.
An administrative fine was imposed on those who did not give way to an ambulance during a wedding convoy in Ankara. While actions were taken against 3 individuals involved in the incident, 3 vehicles were banned from traffic and towed to a parking lot.
"49,810 TL FINE IMPOSED"
Minister Yerlikaya shared the relevant footage on his social media account, stating, "Yesterday, a post was made on social media regarding the 'wedding convoy that did not give way to an ambulance' on the Konya Road direction in Ankara. After the work carried out by our Traffic Inspection Branch, vehicles that did not give way to the ambulance were identified. A total fine of 49,810 TL was imposed on the drivers U.G., B.S., B.K., and B.T.S. Additionally, U.G., B.K., and B.T.S. have been referred to the Çankaya Şehit Mustafa Düzgün Police Station for legal action for 'Endangering Traffic Safety.'” 3 vehicles were banned from traffic and towed to a parking lot.
120 DAYS VEHICLES WILL BE BANNED FROM TRAFFIC
Minister Yerlikaya stated, "We have submitted our proposal for a 36-article amendment that directly affects traffic safety to the esteemed Parliament." He mentioned that with the new regulation, drivers who block traffic by closing bridges, tunnels, viaducts, and highways for reasons such as sending off soldiers, weddings, etc., will be fined 180,000 TL, their driving licenses will be temporarily confiscated for 120 days, and their vehicles will be banned from traffic for 120 days.
Yerlikaya emphasized, "We must not forget that ambulances carry lives and are racing against time. The ambulance we do not give way to today may be trying to take us or someone we love very much to the hospital tomorrow," he said.
