Syrian President Ahmed Shara delivered a historic speech from the podium as the first leader to attend the UN General Assembly in 58 years.
At the summit held in the USA, Shara made a critical call to the world, demanding the lifting of all sanctions against Syria, while also including a striking detail about Turkey in his message.

In his speech, Shara stated, "The lies have been dispelled, and the truths have emerged. Syria has taken its rightful place among the nations of the world. I want to thank all our supporters and countries that stand with us in the cause of the Syrian people. I especially want to thank Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the Arab countries," he expressed.
SHARA AND ERDOGAN MET IN THE USA
Syrian President Shara and President Erdogan met before the historic speech. The meeting also included Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shaybani and MIT President Ibrahim Kalin.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria and regional issues were discussed. President Erdogan expressed that they expect all sanctions against Syria to be lifted as soon as possible, and that Turkey positively approaches all initiatives aimed at Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Emphasizing that the SDF must comply with the March 10 Agreement, Erdogan stated that Turkey closely follows all developments in the region and that support for Syria will continue to increase.
