In Istanbul, the investigation into the criminal organization known as the "Daltons" has been completed, and an indictment has been prepared against 105 suspects. In the indictment, it was requested that 7 individuals be sentenced to life imprisonment twice, along with prison terms ranging from 711 to 1281 years and judicial fines ranging from 53,000 to 230,000 days.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared the indictment against the Dalton criminal organization.

105 PEOPLE IDENTIFIED AS SUSPECTS

The prepared 1676-page indictment includes 2 individuals as "victims," 1 as "injured party," 78 as "complainants," and 105 individuals, of whom 69 are detained and 9 are fugitives, are listed as "suspects."

"THE LEADERSHIP OF THE ACTION GROUP WAS HELD BY BERATCAN GÖKDEMİR"

The indictment describes the emergence and structure of the criminal organization, stating that the fugitive leader of the organization, Barış Boyun, appointed different individuals in managerial positions in various operational areas of the organization to ensure the continuation of the organization's activities in Turkey, and that the fugitive suspect Beratcan Gökdemir led the armed action group of the organization.

The indictment states that Gökdemir was at the head of a group active in Yenibosna, which called themselves the "Daltons," and that this group, acting under Gökdemir's direction, carried out numerous armed attacks, intentional homicides, and robbery actions on behalf of Barış Boyun's criminal organization.

THE SPLIT IN THE CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION REFLECTED IN THE INDICTMENT

The indictment notes that Gökdemir, who is known to be detained in Russia, separated from Barış Boyun's criminal organization in March 2024 and began to act as the leader of the criminal organization known as the "Daltons." It was determined through field and intelligence operations that Gökdemir separated from Boyun due to unfair gains obtained from actions carried out by organization members under his command and the unequal distribution of weapons.

The indictment states that the "Daltons" have distinct differences from known underground criminal organizations in terms of organization, human resources, and criminal methods, noting that "the organization selects its members from young individuals aged 15-20, who have been raised on computer games, are heavily influenced by internet-based series depicting street crime networks, challenge through videos and photos shared by the organization leader and managers on social media platforms, take oaths of revenge, and that the young members of the organization are almost used like 'kamikaze drones' within the country."

"THERE IS ABSOLUTE LOYALTY AND OBEDIENCE"

The indictment describes that Gökdemir leads the organization, while Batın Can Gökdemir, Ahmet Mustafa Timo, Bünyamin Yıkar, Murat Özavşar, Murat Küçükyavuz, and Sinan Memi serve as the organization's managers. It is noted that there is absolute loyalty and obedience to the organization leader and managers, that the instructions given by these individuals are strictly followed, that they are addressed as "Brother," and that there is a well-functioning communication, defense, and information gathering system within the organization.

NOTABLE EXPRESSIONS

The indictment states that the criminal organization has taken various measures to prevent or minimize the impact of potential operations by law enforcement, based on their own experiences as well as the experiences gained from police operations reflected in the media. It is noted that the organization's management and members constantly carry weapons.

The indictment includes the following statements regarding the organization's objectives:

"To intimidate the public and members of rival armed criminal organizations using force and violence, to establish a reputation in the areas they dominate, to take revenge on rival groups, to become a feared power, to conduct arms, drug trafficking, theft, murder for hire, injury, and robbery crimes in Istanbul from a single source, and to increase their power by extorting all venues in Istanbul."

It is reported in the indictment that most of the organization suspects are aware of the technical surveillance methods of law enforcement due to their previous involvement in criminal incidents, and therefore do not use phones. It is also stated that they generally go to crime scenes using vehicles registered under third parties' names, rented, or stolen.

"THEY ARE TRYING TO CREATE ADMIRATION AMONG THE YOUNG GENERATION AND GAIN FOLLOWERS"

The indictment notes that the organization has achieved high popularity on social media, stating: "On social media platforms, the organization leaders and managers, especially those located abroad, share posts with luxury vehicles and venues, expensive brand clothing and accessories, and weapons, initially trying to create admiration for their lifestyle and the organization among the young generation and gain followers. In the second phase, after establishing written or video communication with young sympathizers of the organization who contact them via social media, the leaders and managers abroad facilitate contact with more senior organization members in Istanbul for those they believe have operational capabilities, and these organization members cover the travel expenses of these individuals and place them in organization houses."

63 ACTIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION WERE DESCRIBED

The indictment describes 63 actions of the organization, stating: "The Dalton criminal organization has three different action strategies. The first is attempts to extort financial benefits through robbery attempts aimed at well-off businessmen and shopkeepers using terms like 'protection money, street rights, prisoner money, fines' to provide financial income to the criminal organization and strengthen it. The second is armed attacks against individuals and businesses affiliated with rival criminal organizations. The third is armed actions carried out against third parties for financial gain in a subcontractor manner."

HERE ARE THE REQUESTED PENALTIES

The indictment requests that fugitive suspects Beratcan Gökdemir, Bünyamin Yıkar, and Murat Küçükyavuz, detained suspects Ahmet Mustafa Timo, Sinan Memi, and suspects Murat Özavşar and Batın Can Gökdemir be sentenced to two aggravated life sentences each, along with 711 to 1281 years of imprisonment and judicial fines ranging from 53,000 to 230,000 days for crimes including "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "attempted intentional homicide," "intentional homicide," "qualified robbery," "attempted qualified robbery," "threat with a weapon," "qualified theft," "intentional injury," "intentional injury with a weapon," "forgery in official documents," "unauthorized possession or transfer of dangerous substances," "damage to property," "deliberately endangering public safety," and "violation of Law No. 6136."

It is noted in the indictment that these suspects are held responsible for the actions of other organization members due to their managerial positions.

The indictment, which requests that other suspects be sentenced to varying terms of imprisonment for similar crimes, has been sent to the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court.
