In response to these allegations, the Turkish Red Crescent issued a statement saying, "We learned with great outrage that Recep Yarıcı was arrested for a disgraceful crime. We would like to inform the public that we are intervening to ensure that this individual, whose ties with our organization have been completely severed, receives the heaviest punishment."
Recep Yarıcı, who was appointed as the President of the Turkish Red Crescent Hendek Branch just 25 days ago, has been accused of possessing obscene content related to young children. Following this scandal, Recep Yarıcı, the President of the Sakarya Hendek Red Crescent Branch, was arrested on charges of "possessing and sharing obscene images of young children."
The Turkish Red Crescent General Headquarters made a strong statement after the incident became public, emphasizing that Recep Yarıcı, who took office on January 6, 2026, was immediately dismissed by the board of directors on January 31, 2026, when the crime was discovered.
THE TURKISH RED CRESCENT INTERVENED IN THE CASE
In a written statement from the institution, it was stated:
"We learned with great outrage that Recep Yarıcı, who took office as the President of the Hendek Branch after the resignation of the previous president on January 6, 2026, was arrested for a disgraceful crime. As soon as we received information about this unacceptable disgraceful incident, our General Headquarters Management Board immediately terminated Recep Yarıcı's position on January 31, 2026. The mentioned individual has only served as the President of the Turkish Red Crescent Hendek Branch for 25 days. We would like to inform the public that we have intervened in the case to ensure that this individual, whose relationship with our institution has been completely severed, receives the heaviest punishment, that we are working in cooperation with judicial authorities to clarify all aspects of this zero-tolerance issue, and that we will follow the process until the end."
