Among the 23,500 applications received by the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Petition Commission, there was a request for the "Generation Z," born between 1997 and 2010, to gain the right to early retirement. The applications included many interesting demands, such as having the government cover the debts of those who do not pay their credit card bills and allowing male public employees to wear shorts up to the knee.

23 THOUSAND 500 APPLICATIONS WERE MADE

Approximately 23 thousand 500 applications were made to the TBMM Petition Committee, which examines the petitions and complaints submitted by citizens to the parliament, between the start of the 28th Legislative Term on May 15, 2023, and September 12, 2025.

The Presidency of the Petition Committee made decisions on 12 thousand 468 petitions in its meetings. Applications that were not in accordance with the legislation or were duplicate applications were removed from processing, while the examination of some petitions is still ongoing.

1 OUT OF 4 PETITIONS ARE FROM WOMEN

One-fourth of the petitions sent to the committee came from women, and there were also interesting requests among the applications.

One citizen requested a legal regulation that would require the animal origin of substances in food, cosmetics, cleaning, and personal care products to be clearly stated in the content section.

"THOSE WHO BURN FORESTS SHOULD LOSE THEIR CITIZENSHIP"

Another person applying to the committee requested a legal regulation that would remove Turkish citizenship from those who intentionally burn forests, prevent them from benefiting from any public service except for health until death, and restrict their right to acquire property.

"EARLY RETIREMENT FOR GENERATION Z" REQUEST

Additionally, there was a request for the age group commonly referred to as 'Generation Z' to gain the right to early retirement, as well as a request to ban travel to away games due to incidents caused by fans traveling to away football matches.

A request for a legal regulation to ban TV series was also among the applications.

One person applying to the committee requested the closure of local administrations, while another person wanted the establishment of "assistant muhtar" positions in local administrations.

REQUEST FOR "SHORTS TO BE WORN DURING WORK IN SUMMER"

Highlighting the periods when the air temperature is above seasonal norms, especially in the summer months, one citizen requested a regulation that would allow male personnel working in public institutions to wear knee-length shorts during working hours.

Another citizen requested that compulsory military service be applied to women as well.

INTERESTING REQUESTS RECEIVED BY THE TBMM

Some of the interesting or noteworthy requests received by the Petition Committee are as follows:

- A legal regulation to ensure that those who commit crimes compensate the state for damages incurred indirectly through health and other expenses, based on their confirmed faults by court decision.

- The state covering the debts of citizens who cannot pay their credit card debts.

- At least 40% of the number of members of parliament to be allocated to women.

- The transfer of the offices of governors and district governors to mayors to strengthen democratic representation or the election of these offices by the public.

- The establishment of legal animal cemeteries affiliated with municipalities.

- Entertainment venues, cafes, and places selling alcohol to be closed on Fridays.

- Legal regulations regarding the working conditions of employees in chain supermarkets.
