KASTAMONU-KARABÜK HIGHWAY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Due to the ongoing forest fire since last night in the region, dense smoke has reached the Kastamonu-Karabük highway. The highway was temporarily closed to traffic to prevent drivers from being affected and due to the reduced visibility caused by the smoke.
3 MORE VILLAGES EVACUATED
In a statement made by the Kastamonu Governorship, it was reported that following the evacuation of the previously evacuated 6 villages, the villages of Oycalı, Yeşilova, and Karacalar were also evacuated as part of the efforts coordinated by AFAD.
BREAK IN AIR INTERVENTION
With the onset of darkness, air intervention was paused. Ground teams continue their efforts to bring the fire under control.
DENSE SMOKE AND SOOT REACHED ANKARA
On the other hand, the dense smoke and soot smell caused by the forest fires reached the capital Ankara due to the influence of northern winds. In a statement made on the social media account of the Ankara Governorship, it was stated, "According to the information received from the Forest Regional Directorate and the Fire Department; the dense smoke and soot felt in our province in recent hours is understood to have resulted from the smoke and soot from the ongoing fires in Kastamonu/Araç being carried to our province by the northern winds. There is no fire incident within the borders of our province."
