10 people who illegally collected wild salep orchid tubers in Çankırı were fined 6 million 992 thousand 245 lira. 35 kilograms of tubers were confiscated.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) imposed an administrative fine of 6 million 992 thousand 245 lira on 10 people for illegally collecting salep orchid tubers in Çankırı.

NEARLY 7 MILLION LIRA FINE FOR SALEP COLLECTORS

The DKMP made a statement on its social media account regarding the issue. In the statement reporting that salep tubers collected illegally from nature in Çankırı were confiscated, the following expressions were used:

"Upon receiving a tip-off, our teams, in a joint inspection with law enforcement, determined that 35 kilograms of salep orchid tubers had been illegally collected from nature. The seized tubers were confiscated to be reintroduced into nature, while an administrative fine of 6 million 992 thousand 245 lira was imposed under the relevant law on the 10 individuals identified for illegally collecting endangered salep orchids."

The statement noted that efforts are meticulously conducted to protect biodiversity, and the fight against illegal activities targeting endangered species continues.
