This year, the 13th Orange Blossom Carnival held in Adana saw some businesses committing fraud with registered products, while others failed to comply with hygiene rules, which was shocking. Due to the scandals that reminded people of scenes from India, businesses were fined 168,000 TL. Upset citizens stated, "Adana cannot be compared to the food here. Hygiene is zero, service is zero. None of the services I saw here are Adana services."
BUSINESSES FINED 168,240 TL AT THE CARNIVAL
The 13th International Orange Blossom Carnival, part of the Turkey Culture Road Festival, ended yesterday. Five days after the carnival began, the stand of a popular döner shop, which was found to violate hygiene rules and resembled Indian street food, was removed by the municipal police. Following that, another döner shop placed raw chicken on top of cooked chicken while the carnival was ongoing. These images sparked outrage on social media, prompting the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry to increase inspections of food businesses in Merkez Park and Atatürk Park. During the carnival, teams conducted 251 inspections and imposed a fine of 168,240 TL on 5 businesses. Additionally, it was learned that samples were taken from 4 businesses and 854 kilograms of food products were destroyed.
"THEY IGNORED HYGIENE RULES"
Suat Almaşım, who came to the carnival with his family on the last day, said, "To sell more at the carnival, people completely ignored hygiene rules. They turned the job into a complete farce just to advertise. Personally, I do not approve of eating the food at the carnival. We have better restaurants and more charming places in Adana. I think it is impossible to compare Adana with the food here. There may be tasting foods, but other than that, I do not recommend sitting and eating in places described as shabby," he stated.
"ADANA IS FAMOUS FOR ITS SERVICE AND SMILING FACES"
Almaşım, who explained that many businesses at the carnival did not comply with hygiene rules, said, "The decision of the governor to remove the business that did not comply with hygiene rules is a very correct decision. There are more businesses in the carnival area that do not comply with the rules. I just walked around and saw that hygiene is zero, service is zero. None of the services I saw here are Adana services. Adana is famous for its hospitality and is rich in food variety. I cannot express it in words, but you need to see and taste it. The food consumed in the carnival area is definitely not unique to Adana, and the behaviors are not either. No restaurant in Adana will call you over with their hand; Adana people are truly famous for their service and smiling faces," he expressed.
"THEY DISGRACED ADANA'S BEAUTIFUL PLACES"
Citizen Servet Yılmaz stated, "I saw the negative news about the carnival. What the businesses did is not a good thing. They disgraced the beautiful places of Adana. Adana is a beautiful place, but due to people's non-compliance with the rules at the carnival, it was portrayed as a bad place. I hope next year there will be a better carnival," he said.
