A new era has begun in the e-rental contract application, which concerns millions of homeowners and tenants. While a new feature has been introduced that allows corrections to writing, numerical, and information errors in rental contracts prepared via e-Government, an important regulation regarding the updating of contract information has also been implemented.

A new era has begun in the e-Government e-Rental Agreement application, implemented by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance to prevent unregistered activities in the real estate sector and to make transactions faster, more transparent, and more secure. In response to intense demands from citizens and industry representatives, two revolutionary new functions have been introduced to the digital rental agreement system.

Hakan Akçam, President of the All Real Estate Consultants Association (TEDB), recalled the system's development process, stating that e-rental agreements were made accessible to citizens as of November 4, 2024, and to real estate consultants and authorized persons as of May 9, 2025. Akçam shared the details of the 3rd phase at the system's current stage.

15-DAY "ERROR CORRECTION" PERIOD FOR MATERIAL ERRORS

Instant oversights or incorrect data entries in agreements prepared and officialized through the system are no longer an issue. Providing information on the newly added "Error Correction" function, TEDB President Hakan Akçam said: "Material errors in spelling, figures, or data entries can be easily corrected within a 15-day period after the approval of prepared agreements. The intense demands from our citizens in this regard have made the system much more flexible and user-friendly."

RENT AMOUNT AND INFORMATION CAN BE CONTINUOUSLY UPDATED

Another critical innovation introduced to the system is the "Update" function. Thanks to this button, the communication details of the parties involved in the agreement, the rent amount, and payment-related information can be kept current throughout the agreement period. Emphasizing that updates can be carried out from the 15th day following the creation of the barcoded document throughout the agreement period, Akçam stated that the new document created after the update will be arranged in the system as an "additional protocol" attached to the main agreement.

OLD AGREEMENT REMAINS VALID FOR UNAPPROVED REQUESTS

Highlighting the system's security firewall, Akçam noted that unilateral grievances are prevented. It was pointed out that for update requests not approved by the other party (landlord or tenant) via the system, the existing main agreement continues to retain its legal validity.

WILL SOON BE MANDATORY: SECTOR-SPECIFIC TRAINING COMING

Stating that real estate consultants have not encountered any issues in the integration process with the application, Hakan Akçam made a very important warning about the future of the e-rental agreement. Announcing that the application will soon become mandatory for the entire real estate sector, Akçam concluded, "A comprehensive training will be provided to our industry representatives by experts from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance to ensure the application proceeds even more smoothly. All fine details of this mandatory application will be conveyed to our colleagues by experts."
