22 of the 69 people detained in the counterfeit gold operation in 10 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş were arrested. 10,749 counterfeit gold items, weapons, and drugs were seized in the operation.
In an operation targeting suspects allegedly involved in the production and sale of counterfeit gold across 10 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, 22 of the 69 detained individuals were arrested.
COUNTERFEIT GOLD OPERATION IN 10 PROVINCES
Under the coordination of the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a operation was carried out by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate as part of an investigation into the crimes of "counterfeiting currency," "counterfeiting valuables equivalent to currency," and "qualified fraud." The simultaneous operation across 10 provinces, including Kahramanmaraş, involved 150 teams and 490 police personnel. During the operations, 69 suspects, for whom detention warrants had been issued, were apprehended and taken to the police station.
Searches conducted at the suspects' addresses yielded a total of 10,749 counterfeit gold pieces, including ata, full, half, quarter, gram, half gram, reşat, and figurative types; 123 seals; approximately 5 kilograms of materials used in counterfeit gold production; 112 objects of historical artifact nature; 10 unlicensed pistols; 9 rifles; 5 blank-firing pistols; 3,338 rounds of ammunition; and 26 synthetic narcotic pills.
22 PEOPLE ARRESTED
After police procedures, 18 of the suspects were released. Of the 51 suspects referred to the courthouse, 22 were arrested by the court they were brought before, while judicial control measures were applied to 23 individuals. The remaining 6 suspects were released by the prosecutor's office.
