29 arrests in Halfeti Municipality operation! Former mayor Şeref Albayrak is among them.

In the operation targeting 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes' and 'obstruction of performance of an obligation' related to the previous administration of Halfeti Municipality in Şanlıurfa, 29 of the 46 suspects detained, including former AK Party Halfeti Mayor Şeref Albayrak, were arrested.

The judicial procedures for 46 suspects, including former Halfeti Mayor Albayrak, former municipal council members, personnel from various units, and tradesmen, who were detained in an operation coordinated by the Birecik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on April 24 by teams from the Şanlıurfa Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, have been completed.

HE REACTED TO BEING HANDCUFFED

Şeref Albayrak protested his detention while being taken to the courthouse. Albayrak shouted, "Shame on those who did not handcuff İmamoğlu but handcuffed Şeref Albayrak."

29 PEOPLE ARRESTED, 17 SUSPECTS RELEASED

Among those referred to the courthouse, 29 suspects including Albayrak were arrested. Of the 17 suspects, 3 were released, while 14 were released under judicial control conditions.

PROCEEDINGS INITIATED AGAINST 50 PEOPLE

In the operation carried out on April 24 regarding the crimes of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes" and "sabotaging the performance of an obligation" related to the previous management period of Halfeti Municipality, proceedings were initiated against a total of 51 suspects, including 28 public officials, 50 suspects were detained, and 4 were released after their statements at the police station.

Efforts to capture one suspect as part of the investigation continue.
