The US-Iran war continues to intensify. Most recently, Oman announced that three Liberian-flagged oil tankers were targeted in its territorial waters.
INJURIES AND MISSING PERSONS
In a statement by the Oman Maritime Security Center, it was stated that the Liberian-flagged oil tankers named "Mombasa B" and "Stolt Magnesium," located 8.5 and 9.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate, were targeted.
The statement reported that as a result of the attack, the "Mombasa B" oil tanker lost its engine, and an Omani vessel was moving towards the incident area for rescue operations.
Noting that the 21-person crew of the targeted oil tanker was evacuated, the statement provided information that 6 of the crew members were injured.
It was recorded that the tanker named "Stolt Magnesium" was targeted 40 nautical miles off the country's coast, and a fire broke out in the engine room of the tanker as a result of the attack. The statement noted that all 23 crew members of the Stolt Magnesium vessel were evacuated.
ONE BELONGS TO A UAE-BASED COMPANY
Meanwhile, the statement reported that 18 crew members of the Liberian-flagged oil tanker "Al Bahyah," owned by a UAE-based company, were rescued, and 3 people were still missing.
THEY HAD SAID, “WE CONTINUE COOPERATION WITH ALL PARTIES”
Oman had stated that it continues cooperation with all parties to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement from the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said, "In light of the ongoing discussions and assessments regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, we confirm that our country, within the framework of full compliance with international law, continues transparent and impartial cooperation with all parties to reestablish freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."
The statement, which once again emphasized Oman's full commitment to its obligations as a state party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, called on all parties to respect international law and act in accordance with these legal rules.
