In an operation by Mersin police teams targeting a house and a warehouse, 186,905 narcotic pills weighing 48 kilograms 774 grams, hidden inside wall clocks, along with 1,992 historical artifacts, were seized.
SIGNED A JOINT OPERATION
Under the coordination of the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Narcotics, Intelligence, and KOM Branch Directorates carried out a joint operation as part of the fight against drugs. As a result of the teams' work, a warehouse and an address in the central district of Yenişehir were identified. Simultaneous searches were conducted at the two designated addresses, and 4 suspects, believed to be linked to drug trafficking, were taken into custody.
HIDDEN DRUGS AND HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS
During the searches at the addresses, the following items were seized: 186,905 Captagon pills weighing 48 kg 774 grams, hidden inside 200 wall clocks; a total of 1,992 objects considered to be historical artifacts, including 1,963 bronze coins, 24 silver coins, one bronze coin each with human depictions and profiles, a ring believed to be gold, a ring believed to be bronze, a piece of leather with Hebrew inscriptions, and a roll inside a hexagonal box.
The suspects taken into custody regarding the drugs and historical artifacts were referred to the courthouse after their statements at the police station. The 4 suspects, brought before the duty judge, were arrested.
