According to India's NDTV channel, police stated that while being transported by crane to another area in the steel factory in the city of Visakhapatnam in the state, molten iron at a temperature of 1600 degrees Celsius spilled onto the workers.
An unnamed official speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI) agency said that, according to initial reports, 8 people died and 6 were injured in the incident.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow in a statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X. Modi conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
