In Diyarbakır, 10-year-old Toprak Önkol, who could not stop bleeding after having a tooth extracted, has passed away. His father, Adem Önkol, claimed that the doctor extracted the tooth without taking an X-ray and has filed a complaint against those responsible.

In Diyarbakır, Toprak Önkol (10), who was taken to hospitals after her tooth was extracted, died due to uncontrollable bleeding. Her father, Adem Önkol, stated that despite his warning, the doctor extracted the tooth without taking an X-ray and filed a complaint against those responsible. The Provincial Health Directorate also initiated an administrative investigation regarding the matter.

BLEEDING COULD NOT BE STOPPED

Toprak Önkol, who was bleeding from her tooth at home, was taken to the Children's Hospital in Dağkapı by an ambulance that was called upon her family's notification. Here, her bleeding was stopped, and after the doctor's guidance and warning that intervention must be made with an X-ray, she was taken to the Bağlar District Polyclinic of the Oral and Dental Diseases Hospital. Allegedly, pediatric dentist H.A. extracted Toprak Önkol's tooth without taking an X-ray, despite her father Adem Önkol's warning. When the bleeding resumed, she was first transferred to a private hospital by ambulance and then to the Women's Health and Children's Hospital. Despite all the efforts of the doctors here, Toprak Önkol lost her life. After the autopsy procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institution, Toprak Önkol's body was buried in Yayla village, connected to the Genç district of Bingöl.

'I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST EVERYONE FOUND AT FAULT IN MY DAUGHTER'S DEATH'

Father Adem Önkol stated in his testimony that he is filing a complaint against everyone found at fault in his daughter's death, saying, "On March 19, around 5:00 AM, my daughter Toprak Önkol had bleeding from her tooth. When the bleeding did not stop, we called an ambulance and took her to the hospital in Dağkapı around 5:30 AM. There, she was given serum and the bleeding stopped. The doctor there told me that the issue was outside his field and that a pediatric dentist needed to see her. He particularly emphasized that intervention should not be made without taking an X-ray of the child's tooth. I then took my daughter to the Bağlar District Polyclinic on Turgut Özal Boulevard. I went to pediatric dentist H.A., whose name I learned due to the incident, and I told him three times in a row that intervention should not be made without taking an X-ray. The doctor replied, 'Are you teaching me my profession?' and extracted my daughter's tooth without doing anything. As soon as the tooth was extracted, blood started gushing from my daughter's mouth. They tried to stop the bleeding, but it did not stop. Later, we took my daughter to a private hospital by ambulance. Doctor H.A. was also in the ambulance. They intervened with my daughter at the private hospital, but the bleeding did not stop. Then she was taken again by ambulance to the Women's Health and Children's Hospital. Doctor H.A. came here as well, and they intervened with my daughter. I learned that my daughter lost consciousness here. Then I was informed that my daughter had passed away around 6:00 PM in the operating room. I am filing a complaint against everyone found at fault in my daughter's death, starting with Doctor H.A.," he said.
