CRUISE MISSILES LAUNCHED SIMULTANEOUSLY
According to a statement made by North Korea, the test was carried out to evaluate the reliability of the country's strategic weapon control system and the effectiveness of the destroyer's detection and weapon systems.
The cruise missiles launched simultaneously from the destroyer followed the designated flight path over the West Sea. It was stated that the missiles successfully hit different island targets after a flight duration exceeding 10,000 seconds.
KIM IS IN GOOD SPIRITS
Watching the test on television, Kim Jong-un expressed his satisfaction with the verification of the reliability of the integrated control system for strategic weapons. Kim also emphasized that the destroyer's integrated combat system demonstrated superior performance and that the navy's strategic strike capacity needed to be strengthened.
GAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW DESTROYERS
The North Korean leader stated that the weapon systems on future warships need to be reassessed. Kim Jong-un instructed to increase supersonic weapon systems particularly on 5,000 and 8,000-ton destroyers, and to examine plans for the use of different weapon systems on smaller warships.
He also expressed that Korean-style weapon systems should be implemented on new warships, including the third destroyer currently under construction.
"STRENGTHENING NUCLEAR DETERRENCE IS A STRATEGIC TASK"
In his statement, Kim Jong-un indicated that the country will continue to strengthen its nuclear deterrence. The North Korean leader claimed that the country's nuclear forces have now entered a multi-functional operational phase and that the strategic and tactical strike capacity has been practically deployed.
THE NAVY'S POWER WILL BE INCREASED
Kim Jong-un also gave a series of instructions to enhance the navy's combat capabilities. In this context, it is aimed to complete the tests of the Choe Hyon destroyer and deliver it to the navy within the specified time, and to complete a new destroyer before the anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea.
