In a chain traffic accident involving 4 vehicles, including an LPG tanker and trucks, on the Kocaeli passage of the TEM Highway, 2 people have reportedly lost their lives.
The accident occurred around 15:30 in the Malta neighborhood of the Izmit passage of the TEM Highway. A car driven by İzzet Kaysi heading towards Ankara, along with a gravel-loaded truck whose driver's name is unknown, another truck, and an LPG-loaded tanker were involved in the chain collision. Due to the impact of the crash, İzzet Kaysi and his wife Mesudiye Kaysi, who were trapped inside the car under the overturned trailer of the trucks, were stuck in the vehicle. Upon the notification of other drivers, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. It was determined during the examination by health officials that İzzet and Mesudiye Kaysi, who were rescued from the vehicle by the fire brigade, had lost their lives. The couple's bodies were taken to the morgue for autopsy procedures.
ANKARA DIRECTION CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Due to the accident, the Ankara direction of the TEM Highway has been closed to traffic. While teams continue to work in the area where long vehicle queues have formed, traffic is being directed to alternative routes in a controlled manner.
