Search and rescue operations for 70-year-old Bülent Kaptanoğlu, a father of two who went missing after being swept away by floodwaters in the Foça district of İzmir, resumed with the first light of dawn. Teams found Kaptanoğlu's car approximately 1 kilometer away from where it was swept into the water. The efforts to locate Kaptanoğlu are being conducted meticulously, divided into four regions.

Intense rainfall that started around 12:30 in the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Fevzi Çakmak, and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods of Foça district in İzmir caused flooding, inundating many homes and businesses. Many vehicles were also submerged due to the flood, and 5 people who were trapped in their vehicles were rescued by gendarmerie and fire brigade teams.
HIS CAR WAS FOUND, BUT HE IS MISSING
It was revealed that the person swept away by the floodwaters in his car was 70-year-old Bülent Kaptanoğlu. It was reported that Kaptanoğlu was swept away by the floodwaters while passing through a culvert, and after a notification was made about his disappearance, AFAD and gendarmerie teams dispatched to the area found the car approximately 1 kilometer away from where it was swept away. Bülent Kaptanoğlu was not found inside the vehicle during the inspection.
GOVERNOR ELBAN WAS IN THE FLOOD AREA
While AFAD and fire brigade teams continue their coordinated efforts to find Bülent Kaptanoğlu, who was swept away by the floodwaters and later went missing, in the evening hours, AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan and İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban also visited the flood area to observe the ongoing efforts.
SEARCH OPERATIONS HAVE RESUMED
On the other hand, the search operations, which were interrupted during the night, resumed with the dawn of the day. Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Underwater teams, along with Commando Security teams from Ankara and AFAD teams, are continuing their efforts to find Bülent Kaptanoğlu together with the Coast Guard Command teams.
SEARCHING EVERYWHERE
It was stated that the operations are being conducted meticulously by dividing the area into four regions. While 707 personnel, 43 divers, and 5 drones are conducting the operations, it was learned that the Coast Guard teams are also working from the shore.
