It was claimed that the pilaf topped with meat distributed to the congregation after Friday prayers in Aydın was made from pork. It was alleged that C.C., who was said to have distributed the food, had previously engaged in the trade of pork and had made threatening posts towards businesses that allegedly purchased pork from him, stating, "I will reveal your names."
According to the claim of the Denge newspaper operating in Aydın; in 2015, after the Friday prayer, the congregation at Bey Mosque in the Efeler district exited the mosque. The congregation and nearby citizens were offered pilaf topped with meat prepared by a person named C.C. It was later alleged that the meat was made from approximately 500 kilograms of pork and that nearly 3,000 people consumed the meal.
THE QUESTION THAT REVEALED THE SCANDAL
The incident came to light with a question allegedly directed by C.C. to a religious official. According to the claim, C.C. asked the religious official, "People really liked the meat I made from pork, and some came back for more. In this case, did I earn a reward or commit a sin?" The religious official did not provide any answer to this question.
HAS BEEN CAUGHT BEFORE
It was claimed that C.C. had been caught multiple times in previous years in Aydın with wild boar meat. It was stated that he attempted to sell the said meats to butchers, sausage manufacturing facilities, restaurants, and some hotels, and that the seized meats were destroyed under official procedures.
THREATENED BUSINESSES
Additionally, it was among the allegations that C.C. made threatening posts on social media towards businesses that were claimed to have purchased pork from him, stating, "I will reveal your names."
