1 OF THE DECEASED WAS AN ARCHITECT, 3 WERE WORKERS
It was reported that one of the deceased was an architect and three workers from Ecuador, Mali, and Guinea. Madrid's Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida stated that the top floor of the building collapsed around 1:00 PM local time yesterday, followed by successive collapses in the lower floors. The old office building, located in a tourist area near the opera house and the royal palace in the city center of Madrid, was being converted into a four-star hotel.
