In Çekmeköy, Istanbul, the driver of an IETT bus, while driving, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bus stop where passengers were waiting, after driving towards a motorcycle rider he had been arguing with in traffic. In the accident, one woman lost her life, and four others were injured. The bus driver and the motorcycle rider have been taken into custody.
While driving on Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Street in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, the driver of an IETT bus started to argue with a motorcycle rider over yielding in traffic.
THE BUS CRASHED INTO THE STOP WHILE DRIVING OVER THE MOTORCYCLE
The bus driver lost control of the steering wheel while driving the vehicle over the motorcycle rider, first hitting three cars in front of the medical center and then crashing into the Çamlık stop where passengers were waiting.
1 PERSON DIED, 4 INJURED
In the accident, 1 woman who was trapped under the bus died in the hospital where she was taken as an injured person, while 4 others were also injured.
BOTH DRIVERS ARE IN CUSTODY
The bus driver and the motorcycle rider have been taken into custody. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
STATEMENT FROM IETT: ADMINISTRATIVE AND JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION INITIATED
In a written statement made by IETT, it was stated, "At 14:42 today, a private public bus belonging to Özulaş company was involved in a chain traffic accident at the Çamlık stop in the Çamlık neighborhood of Çekmeköy district. According to initial determinations, a total of 4 people, including the private public bus driver, were injured. An administrative and judicial investigation has been initiated by our Institution and the Security units regarding the accident. The condition of the injured is being closely monitored by our Institution."
