The report from the Forensic Medicine Institute confirmed that DNA traces belonging to two men were found in the intimate areas of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose body was discovered on the shores of Lake Van. Following this development, Justice Minister Tunç stated, "An additional expert opinion has been requested from the Forensic Medicine regarding the death of Rojin Kabaiş."
The university student Rojin Kabaiş, who has been missing since September 27, 2024, was found dead on the shores of Lake Van after 19 days. The forensic report revealed that DNA from two different men was detected on the young girl's body.
HER BODY WAS FOUND AFTER 19 DAYS
21-year-old Rojin Kabaiş, a student in the Preschool Teaching Department of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, went missing on September 27, 2024, and her lifeless body was discovered on October 15 near the Mollakasım neighborhood in the Tuşba district, on the shores of Lake Van.
Kabaiş's body was sent to the Istanbul Forensic Institute for the determination of the exact cause of death after preliminary autopsy procedures at the Van Forensic Institute, and she was buried in Diyarbakır on October 16.
HER FAMILY'S FIGHT FOR JUSTICE CONTINUES
The young girl's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, continues to seek justice despite the time that has passed since his daughter's death. The grieving father reached new information in his last meeting with the prosecutor.
According to the Forensic Institute report, DNA traces from two different men were found in the private areas of Rojin Kabaiş's body. This finding changed the direction of the investigation and accelerated efforts to identify the perpetrators.
MINISTER OF JUSTICE TUNÇ: ADDITIONAL EXPERT OPINION REQUESTED FROM FORENSIC INSTITUTE
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, who made a statement on the matter, noted that the investigation is being conducted in a multifaceted manner and used the following expressions:
"The judicial investigation conducted by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of our university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing in our province of Van on September 27, 2024, and whose lifeless body was found on the shores of Lake Van on October 15, 2024, is continuing in a multifaceted manner.
In order to clarify this tragic event that has caused deep sorrow for all of us, the report prepared as a result of the comprehensive examination conducted by the Presidency of the Forensic Institute has been included in the investigation file.
In addition to this report prepared as a result of autopsy, biological, toxicological, and histopathological analyses, an additional expert opinion related to the matter has been requested from the Istanbul Forensic Institute.
During the investigation process, camera recordings, phone examinations, HTS records, and witness statements have also been evaluated in detail, and technical work involving experts from abroad to unlock the phone used by our child and the examination of some digital materials is ongoing.
Within the scope of the investigation, all evidence and reports are being thoroughly examined without overlooking any details, and the entire process is being carried out meticulously under the coordination of the judicial authorities.
Let our nation, especially the grieving family of our child Rojin, be assured; intense efforts are being made to ensure that not a single point in the investigation remains in the dark and that the material truth is definitely revealed.
